Important Dates
Quilt Show Entry Forms due Tuesday, November 14, 2023
Entries should be completed online at www.folsomquilt.org by November 14, 2023. Elizabeth Holz or Shelley Wardrop will be available to assist in entering your information at the monthly quilt guild meeting beginning in August, or you may call either Elizabeth or Shelley for additional assistance. (Numbers below.)
Quilter and quilt photos (fabric swatches, patterns, etc.) are encouraged to be uploaded with the entry form via the website. If this cannot be done, you may print and deliver the photos at any guild meeting to Elizabeth or Shelley or delivered to either of them at their home no later than November 15, 2023 at 9pm.
Payments can be made by check, cash or online at www.folsom quilt.org. Cash or checks may be delivered to Elizabeth Holz or Shelley Wardrop or hand delivered to them at a quilt guild meeting. Payment must be received by 9 pm, November 15, 2023.

All Quilt Show entries are to be delivered to the Check-In Desk at the Folsom Community Center between 7:00 am and 9:00 am. No entries will be accepted after 9 am.
Quilt Show Entry Check Out - Sunday, February 4, 2024
Pick up all Quilt Show entries between 5:15 pm and 5:45 pm.

2. All display equipment has been taken down and staged for loading into the truck.
General Rules and Information
Guild members may enter quilts, wearable art, and other fiber items they have made or have participated in making within three (3) years prior to the show.
The maximum number of entries is four (4) items per member. This total does not include Guild Challenge categories.
Entries may not have been entered in a previous Folsom Quilt and Fiber Guild Quilt Show.

- For the safety of the workers taking down the quilts and the vendors packing up their booths, entrance into the main room will be restricted to workers only.
- Claim Check tickets are required for Quilt Show entry pick up.
General Rules and Information
Guild members may enter quilts, wearable art, and other fiber items they have made or have participated in making within three (3) years prior to the show.
The maximum number of entries is four (4) items per member. This total does not include Guild Challenge categories.

Each entry must have:
- Completed entry form.
- Color photograph of the submitted entry item (photos of items in progress, patterns, and fabric swatches will also be accepted.) Preferred photograph size is 4” x 6”.
- Photograph of the maker and/or exhibitor. Photographs exceeding 2.5” x 3.5” (wallet size) will be cropped.
- Payment for judged entries. (If paying by check, payable to FQFG.)
- All quilt entries must be quilted, not tied. Exceptions: Cathedral windows, yo-yo, historical reproductions, or youth quilts.
- All Quilts must have an attached 4” hanging sleeve. See directions at www.folsomquilt.org
- Active members may sponsor, for exhibit only, one item made or owned by a nonmember. Sponsored items are not eligible for judging.
- Entries which are unavailable or incomplete at the time of the show may be withdrawn. Notify the Quilt Show Chairperson if an item is being withdrawn. Due to Quilt Show layout, color considerations, and entry paperwork, no substitutes will be accepted for withdrawn items. Judging fees will not be refunded for withdrawals.
Special Exhibit
- Ribbons awarded in other shows the maker wishes to be displayed with the quilt should be submitted at check-in and be secured in a clear plastic bag marked with the name of the quilt maker and the name of the quilt.
- Current members of Folsom Quilt and Fiber Guild may enter items for Professional Judging. A fee of $15.75 is charged for each judged entry.
- Awards and Ribbons: Judges may award First Place, Second Place, Third Place and Honorable Mention ribbons. The judges may also award ribbons for the following: Best Use of Color, Best Hand Quilting, Best Digitized Quilting, Best Stationary Machine Quilting, Best Long or Mid-Arm (Movable) Quilting, Judge’s Choice, Best Interpretation of Quilt Show Theme, and Best in Show. Quilt entries made from kits will not be eligible for Best Use of Color, Best in Show or Best Interpretation of Quilt Show Theme.
- Quilts that have been juried in any show or those that have won ribbons in regional, state, national or international competitions will not be eligible for “best of” ribbons
- All Junior entries will receive participation ribbons as well as a Judge’s Comment Sheet.
- Items entered for professional judging may be moved between categories at the discretion of the Quilt Show and Judging Chairpersons.
- Quilt Show members and attendees may vote for Peoples’ Choice. All entries including sponsored items are eligible for Peoples’ Choice awards.

2.Do you currently teach, or write and sell quilting books or patterns on any aspect of quilting?
3.Has a quilt made predominately by you been accepted into a juried show, or received a ribbon in a state, national, or international quilt show?
4.Have you received three or more “First Place or Best of” ribbons in a single category in previous FQFG shows?
If you answered yes to any two of the above questions, please complete the entry form as Expert Master Category.

Judging Categories - 2024
2024 QUILT SHOW JUDGING CATEGORIES
MODERN
Modern quilts usually feature minimalism, asymmetry, expansive negative space, high contrast, alternate grid work or improvisational piecing.
DIGITAL
A quilt with embroidered or appliqué blocks produced from a pre-programmed digitized design on an embroidery machine.
SMALL PIECED
Any quilt which is 401 to 2,915 square inches (width X length) and is primarily pieced.
MEDIUM PIECED
Any quilt which is 2,916 to 5,184 square inches (width X length) which is primarily pieced.
LARGE PIECED
Any quilt which is 5,185 square inches (width X length) or larger and is primarily pieced.
SPECIAL TECHNIQUE
A quilt of any size that includes cross stitch, embroidery, whole cloth, crazy quilt, cathedral window, yo-yo, trapunto, cheater cloth, faux chenille, photo transfer, non-traditional or a combination of mixed techniques.
APPLIQUÉ
Any quilt that is primarily applique´.
SMALL WALL
Any quilt that is 5,184 square inches or smaller and intended to be used as a wall hanging
LARGE WALL
Any quilt that is 5,185 square inches or larger and intended to be used as a wall hanging
ORIGINAL DESIGN
Any quilt that is designed by the maker. It can be made from traditional blocks set in a unique manner; however, the quilt cannot be any part of a published quilt pattern.
MINIATURE
Must be miniature in scale and 400 square inches maximum, for instance
20”x 20” (width x length) or less
ART QUILT
Original design using any techniques or combination of techniques or materials in a non-traditional way that is made and intended to be used as a wall hanging.
EMMA ALLEBES ART CHALLENGE
Theme: Landscape
The following components must be included in your quilt:
Any quilt where at least 50% of the fabrics have been preselected by a shop or designer. Block of the Month quilts which include preselected fabric fall into this category.
USE OF SHOW THEME
A quilt of any size depicting and representing the 2024 Quilt Show theme: Wine and Roses.
NON-QUILT CATEGORIES for JUDGED ENTRIES
Open to all Non-Quilt Entries - No distinction between Master & Artisan
WEARABLE AND FIBER ART
Artistic expression in clothing, purses, bags, scarves or other wearable art items using traditional techniques i.e quilting, knitting, crochet, woven, etc. other art techniques or embellishments that result in a one -of-a kind garment.
OTHER FIBER ITEMS
Fiber techniques such as needlework that are not knitted, crocheted, macrame or woven. For example, pictures, wall hangings, dolls, fiber/textile sculptures.
JUNIOR ITEMS
Quilt or garment of any kind of size made by a person under 18 years of age. Judges will evaluate entries as a courtesy of the guild free of charge.
