Memorial Mini-Challenge
The mini-challenge is on! The 2024 mini-challenge theme is “Put a Bird On It.” There must be a bird, recognizable as a bird, on your quilt. You must use at least one-third of the hand-dyed fabric provided (get it from Lynn Daly!) on the front of your quilt.
That’s it.
Except for the nuts and bolts below:
Quilts may be any shape (square, rectangle, octagon, etc.), as long as they fit in a square measuring 20”x20”.
A miniature quilt is a scaled-down version of a larger quilt. It should not be easy to determine from a
photograph whether the quilt is small or large.
In addition to piecing and quilting, other techniques such as appliqué or embroidery may be used in the
construction of the quilt. You may also choose a 3D design as long as there is no projection of more than
two inches.
Your finished quilts are due at the July 9, 2024, meeting.
To enter, provide your name and the name of your quilt (written on a piece of paper) to Lynn Daly either
at a Guild meeting.
The deadline for entry is July 2, 2024.

The Dream in Fiber Challenge
Join us in making a dream materialize! Create something you’ve always dreamed of making, or make something by a method or with a material you’ve dreamed of trying, or even make something you’ve actually dreamed about, in
any fiber medium.
For this challenge, please make a wearable, an accessory, jewelry, or a decorative item other than a wall hanging. To be accepted into the challenge, the item must be at least 50% visible fiber content, other than fabric.
Please bring entries to the November meeting for member’s choice voting. You will be asked to submit a brief statement about what dream inspired your entry. All participants are encouraged to enter their items in the Quilt Show.
To sign up or ask questions, please contact Juli Neal or Donna Ireland.
Emma Allebes Art Quilt Challenge
We had so much fun a few years ago with the easy geometric art challenge, we’ll do something like that again. This year we’ll make abstract artwork using primarily curvilinear shapes with as few straight lines as possible. Think circles, ovals, arches, rainbows, yin
and yang, rolling waves. etc., which are all curvilinear shapes.
Begin with a black background and using black and white (not gray) solids and/or prints and add to that your favorite color. Use any values of the one color you choose. The finished size is 30”H x 20”W. It can be made using any technique or style. It must have three quilted
layers and a hanging sleeve and label.
Enter your finished art in our annual 2025 show.
There will be a category on the entry form marked Art Challenge.
