Speaker: Carrie Fondi - Traditional Hawiian Quilting
Carrie will entertain us with a trunk show of her outstanding Hawaiian quilt collection, and tell us all about the history of Hawaiian quilting, which evolved in the islands in the early 1800s. She has been quilting since 1992, and has studied quilting from master Hawaiian quilters Poakalani and John Serroa. Check out her website at www.meliaquilts.com to see her patterns and creations.

Carrie will induct us into the art of traditional Hawaiian quilting, learning how to cut a block from a quarter-fold pattern, the traditional and modern Hawaiian basting methods, and needle turn appliqué the unique Hawaiian way. The class fee includes a 22-inch Hawaiian block pattern of your choice. She will also offer optional hand-dyed fabric kits in many colors for only $15. You don’t even need to bring your machine – this is a no-stress hand appliqué class!
